As of January 1, 2023, Myskowski & Matthews has moved its practice to Pierce Atwood LLP.
Pierce Atwood is a full-service law firm based in New England providing legal and business counsel to its clients, which range from regional and local enterprises, utilities, financiers, middle-market companies, entrepreneurs, and individuals, to Fortune 500 companies, multinational corporations, and state and foreign governments.
The Myskowski & Matthews team will continue to serve clients from our existing office in Concord, and also from Pierce Atwood’s Portsmouth office. By joining Pierce Atwood's highly-regarded trusts and estate planning team, we can now serve clients across New England.
Mission and History
We bring a combined 35 plus years of legal experience to the service of our clients. Jan graduated law school from William and Mary in 1992 and Marla graduated from Northeastern University School of Law in 2003. We practice together because we share a mutual commitment to maintaining the human element of the law. Our clients are people, not net worth. We are people too, and we strive to make the process of planning for difficult situations as pleasant as possible for all of us.
We also share a commitment to excellence. Marla has clerked for the State’s highest court, and Jan is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, one of the country’s most selective professional organizations. We strive to bring the expertise of these accomplishments to the table without any of the pretension (we hope).
After practicing together in law firm settings for many years, Jan and Marla decided to launch Myskowski & Matthews, PLLC on May 1, 2015.
How We Work
While all of our projects are billed based on hourly rates, we work hard to provide reliable estimates at the commencement of any new project, and to assign tasks to personnel with the appropriate combination of skill and hourly rate. Most importantly, for new clients, if after hearing our proposal for services and estimated fees you decide not to retain us, we do not bill you for the initial consultation.

Jan P. Myskowski
Jan was a founding member of the New Hampshire Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. He is a frequent author and lecturer on trust and estate topics for members of the New Hampshire Bar Association and in other settings. He is a past board member of the New Hampshire Estate Planning Council and has served on numerous charitable boards. While Jan worked hard to establish himself as a leader among the New Hampshire trusts and estates bar, he finds it easy not to take himself too seriously.

Marla B. Matthews
As a former educator, Marla enjoys working with families to find solutions to complex issues related to transfer of wealth and legacy planning. Prior to practicing in the private sector, Marla clerked for the Honorable James E. Duggan, Associate Justice of the New Hampshire Supreme Court. When she is not at the office, Marla can be found on her yoga mat or playing with her beloved dogs.

Ashley Peck
Ashley joined us in March of 2017 upon the retirement of our first employee and Office Manager, Vickie Nikolla-Resnick. Ashley graduated from Clark University with a Bachelor’s degree in History, and, prior to joining Myskowski & Matthews, PLLC, worked as a communications professional, primarily for the outdoor industry and other retail product distributors. Ashley manages our office, applies her research and communication skills to paralegal projects, and manages the firm’s marketing.
Ashley brings a lively combination of youthful exuberance and mature professionalism to our office. When she's not at the office, Ashley enjoys spending time in the outdoors with her husband, testing the limits of how much coffee she can consume, and attempting to read ALL the books. She also spends far too much time trying to convince her two rescue Australian shepherds that neither she nor her cat needs to be herded.
